I’m supposed to put my oils where?

You’ve got all these oils, maybe even some special blends you’ve whipped up…now where in the world are you supposed to put them? What areas absorb the oil the quickest? Does it make a difference what you are using the oil for and where you put it? Well, you are very quickly going to find out as I answer these common questions in this post!

The Vita Flex Technique

Vita Flex “vitality through the reflexes” is a specialized form of hand and foot massage that is exceptionally effective in delivering the benefits of essential oils throughout the body. It is based on a complete network of reflex points and neuroelectrical pathways that stimulate all the internal body systems. The electrical charge follows the pathways of the nervous system to where there is a break in the electrical circuit, usually related to an energy block caused by toxins, damaged tissues or loss of oxygen. There are over 1,500 vita flex points in the body… hold on, what?! Yes, it’s true! Using these vita flex points is an ancient technique that originated in Tibet thousands of years ago, and is very effective in bringing healing!

Primarily in your hands, feet and spine, there are specific reflex points that correspond to different systems in your body. Pictured below are these points. When applying oils to the vita flex points, use firm but not painful pressure. Rub in the oil slowly and evenly. Place 1-3 drops of the essential oil [with or without a carrier oil, depending on the oil] in the palm of your hand and dip opposite fingertips into the palm to retrieve the oils.

The Feet

Why do so many people say to put the oils on the bottoms of your feet?

The pores on the bottoms of your feet are some of the largest in your body! This allows for quick absorption! It is also nice to put  them on the bottom of your feet because the skin is less sensitive and will likely not be irritating if it is a “hot oil” [an oil causing a burning sensation on the skin, not actually burning it!] Also, if you don’t prefer the smell of a particular oil, but want the benefits of it, you probably won’t smell it after it is applied to your feet!

What other areas are beneficial to put oils on?

Whether through inhalation, ingesting [the vitality line], or topical application of any 100% pure and therapeutic grade oil [like Young Living’s oils] is bound to be effective! However, in addition to the hands, feet and spine, there are some points on the ear that Gary Young [The founder of Young Living] found to be most rapidly effective for both emotional and physical purposes. He calls this method the Neuro Auricular Technique [NAT]. This application method integrates the application of the oils topically by using a small pen shaped instrument with a rounded end to the acupressure meridians on the ears!

Whether you are applying these oils to support your body for a specific physical or emotional purpose or general wellness, I hope these reference points and explanations help! Don’t stress yourself out over putting them in the “right spot”! A fact is a fact…if you inhale them, apply them anywhere on your skin or take them internally they WILL go to your body systems and get to work! Get creative and intentional about using your oils and watch your health flourish!
