Your skin, the largest organ of your body deserves more respect than we give it. Much more. I am sure one to talk in this department. The sun is one of the most harmful things we can do to our skin…but I just. can’t. get. enough. It’s not the tanning I am obsessed with [even though I won’t complain about it] it is the heat, warmth, and LIFE that comes with being outside in the sun! So, because I don’t have plans to hide out in the shade anytime soon, I figure I better do everything else in my power to take care of my skin!
I have pretty oily skin and am definitely prone to blemishes when extra hormones are present or I don’t wash my face. I’m kinda over it really! I’ve basically been pregnant or nursing the last 6 years of my life. Hello hormones! Anyways, I have tried out countless product lines with promises to make my skin look amazing. From the ones at target to the more spendy brands, I just wasn’t satisfied [or willing to pay an arm and a leg]. For a while, I was hesitant to make any DIY facial products. I didn’t want to risk clogging up my pores and frankly was doubtful that any homemade product could yield the same or better results than a carefully formulated store bought one.
A few weeks ago on my favorite oily podcast [the essential oil revolution podcast] there was an episode on DIY beauty products and oils. Hearing this motivated me to really start trying to make something that actually worked for me AND wasn’t filled with all the chemicals, petroleum oil, and other fillers. I will list the recipes I have gotten from another fellow blogger’s site realfoodrn.com and it’s safe to say I’ve fallen in LOVE! Finally!!!
I haven’t tried making any face wash yet, but I did get Young Living’s new ART line’s cleanser and I don’t forsee myself doing any DIYing to replace this ANYTIME soon. I love that it is light & almost airy when cleaning my face. I can tell there isn’t any junk in there and it leaves my skin feeling so fresh!
As I age [well kind of, all 3o years of me!] I am starting to notice a lot more wrinkles and heaven forbid my belly stretch marks ever start to fade. I need to be more intentional about putting essential oils and carrier oils on my skin to help repair it and keep it looking as good as possible! In no way do I want to look perfect, but I do what to take care of it and age somewhat gracefully 😉
What are the best oils to heal, repair and nourish the skin? FRANKINCENSE! It one of the spendier oils, but far worth every penny! I put a roller ball top on it and put it right on my face and tummy! Sandalwood and Lavender are universally great for the skin as well, but apparently not quite as close to my heart as Frank 😉
Rejuvenate and heal your skin: Rose, Sandalwood, Myrrh, frankincense and Lavender
Prevent retard wrinkles: Lavender, Spikenard, Myrrh, Frankincense and Sandalwood
Regenerate: Geranium, Helichrysum, Spikenard, Melrose and Sandalwood
Restore skin elasticity: Sandalwood + Lavender, Ylang Ylang + Lavender or Patchouli + Ylang Ylang

Normal Skin: Hemp Seed, Coconut, Grapeseed, Sunflower, Sweet Almond, and Young Living’s V-6 oil
Oily Skin: Grapeseed, Sweet almond, Apricot oil, Jojoba, Sunflower and Young Living’s V-6
Dry Skin: Avocado, Jojoba, Sweet Almond, Rosehip, Olive and Young Living’s V-6
Sensitive Skin: Jojoba, Sesame Seed, Young Living’s V-6, Sweet Almond & Apricot
Mature Skin: Jojoba, Macadamia Hempseed, Sesame Seed, Rosehip, Sweet Almond, Apricot & Young Living’s V-6
Always make sure you are using cold pressed and unrefined carrier oils so that the healing nutrients that make up the carrier oil are not extracted or tampered with!
Note that if stored properly, essential oils do not expire, but pay attention to the shelf life of your carrier oil!

6 drops Sandalwood
4 drops Geranium
3 drops Lavender
2 drops sacred Frankincense
*Apply to skin 2x daily, mix with carrier oil if desired*
